Darcy Vorhees of DarcyVDesign, Inc. is an illustrator and animation designer whose work is infused with humor, emotion, and imagination.
Darcy was schooled at the prestigious Pratt Institute in New York City. After her graduation with honors she remained in the city and contributed to a variety of animated productions including the MTV show “Friday, the Animated Series”, 4Kids Entertainment’s “Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles,” and Disney’s “Lizzie McGuire Movie.”
After nine years, she decided to move to the midwest and build DarcyVDesign. She currently uses her past experience to provide top-notch artwork to a broader range of clients nationally.

Illustration is an important part of a product or publication. A great illustration catches the customer’s eye and piques their interest; in a moment it can communicate important values and ideas. That is why DarcyVDesign makes it a point to work closely with clients in order to create illustrations that are perfectly suited to their needs.
Adobe Photoshop, Macromedia Flash, and Adobe Illustrator are DarcyVDesign’s primary illustration tools, but our artists are also skilled in traditional techniques such as acrylic, pastel, pencil, and oil. If traditional media are desired, please indicate that when requesting an estimate.
DarcyVDesign uses techniques currently employed in animation production to create appealing characters for use in animated content, as mascots, and as logos; all the while allowing space during the design process for feedback from the client. Our goal is a design that fulfills, and exceeds, its purpose.
Depending upon the scope of the project, DarcyV Design can provide anything from a single view of a character to creating entire design packs consisting of color rotations, sheets of attitude poses and expressions, artists notes, and even lip sync mouths.
If the character is destined for a flash production, creation of a ready-to-animate character library in Flash may be the best option. This library includes as many views and assets needed in the production. The resulting artwork can then simply be imported into a Flash scene by any animator, and it is ready to be brought to life.

While DarcyVDesign’s artists primarily work in Adobe Photoshop for illustration purposes, they are also skilled in using several traditional media such as oil, acrylic, pencil, charcoal, and pastel. The artists’ background in animation has also made it necessary to maintain flexibility of style, making conceptual design a natural fit.

The primary tools for storyboarding at DarcyVDesign are pencil and/or ink, but we can also create color boards using photoshop, pastels, colored pencil, and acrylic.
